Providing virtual mental Health services to the residents of Iowa, Maine, Idaho, and Kansas.
From a young age, I knew my calling was to help individuals struggling with emotional challenges. Immediately after completing high school, I applied for my first mental health position and eagerly awaited my diploma to commence work. Over two decades later, I have never wavered from this path, finding immense fulfillment in my chosen profession.
In 2008, I embarked on pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Phoenix. This program not only reinforced the fundamental nursing skills acquired through my Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Nursing but also provided a broader perspective on patient needs and the healthcare system as a whole. During my undergraduate studies, I was honored to be invited to join Sigma Theta Tau, the prestigious national society recognizing top-performing nursing students. I graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2011, achieving the highest level of honors for cumulative GPA.
By fall 2011, I had enrolled in the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program at Wilkes University. Building upon my nursing experience and undergraduate education, this Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program focused on equipping me with the necessary skills to transition into an independent mental health provider role.
Prior to obtaining my MSN, I worked as a psychiatric nurse. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Wilkes University and have maintained my membership in Sigma Theta Tau since my initial invitation in 2008.
Treatment Values and Philosophies
Throughout my career, I've discovered a passion for assisting individuals who are experiencing emotional distress and understanding how it affects their relationships and daily life. It's crucial not only to address the symptoms but also to examine how they impact the most meaningful aspects of their existence. I've developed a particular interest in geriatric psychiatry, where grief often plays a significant role in influencing one's emotional state. This grief extends beyond the loss of a loved one and can encompass the loss of independence, the life they once knew, and the inability to engage in cherished activities.
From the outset, my priority is to establish a trusting relationship where individuals feel comfortable opening up to me as they would a trusted friend. I consider it an honor that they entrust me with their vulnerability during challenging times, and I take this responsibility with the utmost seriousness. My goal is to ensure that every individual feels that the treatment plan is tailored to their unique priorities.
My approach is comprehensive - I examine all potential factors influencing mental health, including relationships, home environment, and underlying medical issues that may have gone undetected. Over time, I've found fulfillment in tackling complex scenarios that demand innovative, outside-the-box solutions. This led me to explore the intricacies of geriatric psychiatry, comprehensive memory assessments, and the understanding that the loss of independence, loved ones, and a once-cherished lifestyle often carries an element of grief. We are all multifaceted beings, and our needs require personalized treatment plans.
Treatment is primarily geared towards the adult and geriatric population with focused diagnostic areas that include but are not limited to:

-Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
-Catatonic Disorders

-PTSD
Every patient receives education on their diagnosis and any proposed treatments to make informed decisions about their care.
-Second opinions/medication reviews
-Supplemental therapy with medication management
appointments including:

When choosing a mental health provider, it is essential to do your research to make sure you are able to make an informed decision about who to go to for help for your mental health.
What areas do they specialize in? What age group do they work with? What is their treatment style?
Reading provider profiles gives a preview into the personality of your prospective clinician and can help distinguish whether they are a good fit for you.
